BASEBALL FIELD AT

PAVILION PARK

The installation of the new baseball field is nearing completion.  Remaining work to be done consists of erecting new chain link to the backstop, install sleeves for removable bases and pitching rubber, and top off the skinned areas with red clay to final grade.  The field was closely modeled after the tee-ball fields at Northrup Park in Boerne with a few modifications.

For you coaches out there, the field has 50’ bases, 10’ arc at home plate, 10’ circle at the mound, and +/- 8’ arc at the three bases.  The field was planted with Bermuda 419.  It was decided from a maintenance standpoint to grass the base paths in lieu of clay.  The infield has permanent irrigation.

The field will not be open for play until at least the first of the year.  By the time BYAA’s Spring league starts up we should have a wonderful practice facility for our up and coming baseball players.

For all of us not-so-young weekend warriors, the field will serve well for family outings, parties, or just the parent-child throw around.

There are also plans to try and free the entire field of weeds and establish a playable turf for our soccer players as well.
