Men's Group

We had another great men’s group get together in November. We were hosted by Ron and Phyllis Roberts at their beautiful home on Riverwood.
The fall weather made it an almost perfect evening. We welcomed a couple of new guys, Les Freund and Rob Phillips, and I actually remembered to              introduce them to the group this time.
The fare again was Mexican- beef and chicken fajitas, beef and chicken       enchiladas, guacamole, salsa, chips, beans, rice and plenty of beer and soft drinks.
Mike Sheridan from Cordillera gave us an update on the status of the litigation of the house on Rio      Cordillera that had been built with a different set of plans than what Cordillera approved. The results were that Cordillera won the arbitration, and the lender will have to make all the changes to the elevations and materials that are required to bring it into Cordillera standards. Cordillera approved the new architect who is working with the lender. Preliminary plans have been approved and final approvals and remodeling should begin soon.
We were reminded of the Cordillera Christmas party on the 14th of December at the Fair Oaks CC. All residents and their guests are invited. The charge is $40.00 per person, $80.00 per couple. It will start at 5:30, and a seated diner will be served at 6:30. Tickets can be purchased through the Cordillera sales office (www.cordillerasocialclub.com ) or JW Pieper at (jwp1@gvtc.com ).  Checks should be payable to Cordillera Men’s Group. This is a lot of fun and yet another way to meet your neighbors. If you have not been able to make it before, you have missed a great time.
We were also reminded that this is the time that a lot of men and their wife’s volunteer to help out the HCDBM (Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries). They supply food and other needs to really destitute families in the Boerne area.  At Christmas, local churches and groups like ours provide Christmas        presents for youngsters of these families, probably the only presents they will receive. There is a lot of work to be done prior to delivery in sorting and packaging the gifts. This is where we come in. This is a wonderful organization that does a lot of good work here in the Boerne area. Trust me when I tell you how rewarding this can be. You can contact Judith Rivers at drivers001@aol.com  or Jerry Merritt at    jerrymerrittx@aol.com  to find out about volunteering. y
